We enjoyed a wonderful family time.
The reason why this gets a 2 star review is because of the actual condition of the cabin. One of the main reasons we wanted to stay at this place was the fact that it had a hot tub. My warning to anyone visiting this cabin is to NOT get in. When we pulled off the top we could tell right away that the water had not been changed for some time, nor had the hot tube been cleaned. There was a rough brown film along all of the edges of the tub, and the water smelled so bad. It seemed that this was not due to recent weather or not being covered recently. This had accumulated from time. When we turned the jets on a TON of suds filled the tub. It seems as if they just pour chemicals in it every so often rather than draining and cleaning it. The water was very slimy when touched. It was horrible and unusable.
My husband and I stayed here for the weekend for our 10th anniversary. We stayed in the Hummingbird Cabin. It's 1 big open room, with a queen size bed. Very cozy and definitely secluded. The place was spotless. Outside there's a hot tub, completely private. We really enjoyed that. Close to Loudonville, charming small town with lots of campgrounds and water activities. We had a relaxing weekend, much needed r & r
We spent 5 nights in the Dove cabin. We loved the rustic look of quilts and unique wooded decorations. The view was gorgeous.
We had our wedding at the event center and stayed in the 2 largest cabins. The Baker's are wonderful people. Our wedding was great the cabins were clean and beautiful scenery. Thank you so much. Would definitely recommend for any occasion.
Our second issue was that there were many wasps within the cabin. We caught and released around 6 by the afternoon on our second day. They were on the floor, windows, in the bathroom etc. I almost stepped on 2 of them with my bare feet! I actually called the owner about it to see if he could do anything. When I told him I almost stepped on one with no shoes, he told me that isn't a problem and I should just "squish 'em." That did not really resolve the problem and it was hard to relax that weekend because we had to keep our eyes out for wasps. It would have been nice if he offered anything in terms of a resolution.
The kitchen was small, but functional. It included everything we needed.
All and all it was not the worse trip, but we will not be coming back to this cabin. If you are planning on spending most of your time at the park and not in the cabin, than this is a fine place for you. If you are staying indoors and planning on relaxing, I would look elsewhere.
The large front porch featured a swing, where we spent hours relaxing.
We were a little disappointed in the jacuzzi with the brown iron in the water, but chalked it up to rustic life---which was what we were hoping for anyway.
My wife and I stayed at the Hummingbird Hideaway for our 1 year anniversary. I must say this place was less than great. Do not get me wrong it did have some pros. Good location to the park. Great looking backyard. Nice looking wood walls etc.
Stayed at Hummingbird Hideaway for July 4th with my husband and two children. We had an amazing and wonderful time. It was secluded and the scenery was beautiful, best of all it was super close to Mohican State Park and the hiking trails. The cabin was clean and well- maintained. What really sealed the deal was that when we went to head home at checkout time our car wouldn't start. The owner of the cabins quickly arrived and helped us jumpstart our car. He was so gracious and kind about the whole thing!! Thank you Secluded Cabins!!! We'll be back!
The fire pit in the back with the free wood gave us lots of s'more time.
